An insatiable curiosity for the arts is the fuel that enables Lisa DuBois to approach each of her projects with enthusiasm. Lisa is a New York-based curator and photojournalist. After receiving a fellowship with Harlem Arts Festival, she was offered the opportunity to transform a space into a gallery on Malcolm X Boulevard in Harlem. Lisa named it X Gallery and successfully exhibited the work of dozens of artists and photographers.
With the arrival of Covid 19 pandemic, X Gallery transitioned to an online gallery. When the major lockdown began, Lisa recognized the historical importance of the time and decided to create a call for art from around the world to capture how artists were expressing themselves. Lisa received a tremendous global response - curated the body of work and created a video slide show titled " Awareness through Conceptual Art and Photography". The video is now available on you tube.
Ms Dubois’ art has been extensively shown and collected in the US and abroad, including the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, the Gordon Parks Museum in Fort Kansas among other notable venues. She was recently interviewed on BronxNet, Nola TV, and Single shot about her multifaceted work.
Lisa has been recognized by the Guardian and the New York Times for her work as an artist and curator for X Gallery. Her most recent project was as the creative consultant and curator for 'ArtontheAve' a large-scale outdoor exhibition along New York's Columbus Avenue. Lisa was instrumental in co - launching this new and highly popular initiative spanning from 2020 -2021 .
She is a member of Enfoco and a contributor to the Social Documentary Network and Edge of Humanity magazine . Some of Lisa’s work can be seen on the l Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS.com) Masters Pavilion International exhibition.
