My sister's paintings remind me of a few famous painters from the 1930s and 1940s like Alice Neel, Thomas Hart Benton, and Edward Hopper. The colors, the mood, and the stark images transfix me as I stare into her paintings. I love them. Enjoy! - John C. Kuchera

This art was inspired by being in the commander quarters at Fort Warden in Washington state. Fort Warden from WW II is now a state park. They use all the old buildings as hotel rooms. The paraded grounds and bunkers are all now open spaces for hiking, and they have a beautiful beach which is excellent for watching the Cascade mountain sunrise.
They paint the inside of the buildings using industry yellow. This color has a way of making beautiful patterns out of light and shadow and the warm, reflecting light helps me create my paintings. Fort Warden has many memories for me, as it is where I stayed every time I took part in the great Port Townsend kinetic sculpture race, a human power amphibious race. - MaryAnn Kuchera
